Talking to Children About Violence: Tips for Parents and Teachers

Families and school personnel must work collaboratively in helping to ensure a sense of security for students in school. The first thing we must do, is talk to our students about their feelings regarding this topic, particularly after an act of school violence occurs in one of our nation’s schools. The infographic below may be of interest to you as you talk to your child about school safety. The full article found here can also be a resource for you.

In case you missed it: “One World Many Stories”

At North View Middle School we believe that no significant learning can occur without a significant relationship. Because of this belief we spend a considerable amount of time building community with our building stakeholders. Our hope is that through this work we will make real connections with our school community to develop a positive school climate and culture that is supportive of all its members. One example of this is bringing families into the school community by hosting our 2nd annual “One World Many Stories” event. This event highlights the many stories of North View.

  • Your favorite/least favorite part of your job
  • How much could you make in your career field
  • How you became interested in your career
  • Where you went to college
  • What the classes in college were like
  • How you paid for college
  • What high school classes students could take to prepare
  • Advice for students interested in going into your field
