Math updates provide more access to accelerated options and clearer course titles.
The middle school math course sequence has been revised to ensure that students at every grade level in all four middle schools have access to accelerated math, and to provide course titles that more clearly convey course content.
With teacher recommendation, 6th graders now have access to an accelerated Pre-Algebra course; 7th and 8th graders may be eligible for either of two accelerated math options.
The changes do not require any action by students or families. As they do every year, teachers will place students in the appropriate math course, according to teacher recommendation and standardized test scores.
Students will receive their class schedules, including math course placement, at orientation in August. The updated Middle School Registration Guide can be viewed here: http://bit.ly/28Z8f9t
