At North View Middle School we believe that no significant learning can occur without a significant relationship. Because of this belief our incoming students spent a considerable amount of time on the first day of school working with student leaders and staff to make real connections with each other, learn that people at school care about them and begin to develop a positive school climate and culture that is supportive of all community members.
Activities include large group activities and competitions with their grade level peers and small group activities within their advisory classrooms. Students were also able to learn about the school’s expectations for them as new community members and get familiar with the most difficult thing about middle school, opening your first combination locker.
When asked about their experience today, many students stated that this was a great way to start the school year because they felt welcomed and excited about joining a new school community.
