Dear Parents,

On behalf of the staff at North View Middle School, I am writing to welcome you to the 2015-16 school year! We are looking forward to a productive partnership with you to ensure that our children achieve their highest potential. We recognize that in order to be successful in school, our children need support from both the home and school. We know a strong partnership with you will make a great difference in your child’s education. As partners, we share the responsibility for our children’s success and want you to know that we will do our very best to carry out our responsibilities and we ask that you guide and support your child’s learning by ensuring that he/she:

  1. Attends school daily and arrives on time, ready for the day’s learning experience
  2. Completes all homework assignments given by teachers
  3. Reads daily to develop a love for reading and to improve literacy skills
  4. Shares school experiences with you so that you are aware of his/her school life
  5. Informs you if he/she needs additional support in any area or subject

Please plan on attending our fall Open House event which will occur on Wednesday September 2nd, 2015 from 4pm to 6pm. In addition to meeting with your student’s teachers and other members of our school community, you will also be able to attend our iPad informational meetings and our Middle School Readiness meetings.  Our iPad informational meetings have been developed to discuss policies and procedures related to the use of the student iPads in and out of school and will be held at 4pm and 5pm. I would strongly encourage you to attend one of these informational sessions as they are an excellent opportunity to have many of your questions related to the iPad answered.

Because nerves and excitement are abound as students prepare to enter middle school, we have developed programing to help you and your students feel prepared for the challenges associated with more difficult classes, workload increases and a more complicated social scene. These informational sessions will be at 4pm and 5pm as well. Please consider attending one of these sessions because the more you know about middle school readiness, the better you’ll be able to help us guide your student through their middle school years.

As we go through the school year, I welcome the opportunity to meet all of you. Please know that I have an open door policy and you are invited to North View anytime. I look forward to working with you and your student throughout the school year to provide a productive and safe learning environment that supports student success.

Sincerely,

Diana Bledsoe
School Principal
